   Admission Requirements

   M.Ed., Community Counseling (MSE.ECC)

   M.Ed., School Counseling (MSE.EDC)

  • Application for Admission submitted online through the Graduate School.

     

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.

     

  • Minimum undergraduate cumulative average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants who have less than a 2.75 cumulative average may be admitted if they achieve a score of 396 or higher on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or scaled scores of 430 or higher on the verbal ability and 4.0 (490 on the older scaling system) or higher on the analytical ability sections of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

  • Three letters of recommendation from qualified individuals, such as 2 professionals and 1 colleague submitted as part of the online Application for Admission.

  • Transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Request that official transcripts from any college you currently attend or previously attended be sent directly from the institution to the UD Office of Graduate Admission Processing at:

  • Personal Statement submitted as part of the online Application for Admission.

  • Group Interview. Once applicants have successfully met the criteria for the Graduate School and faculty have completed their review, applicants may be invited to participate in a group interview (see Admission Timeline below for more information). The group interview will consist of 6-8 applicants and two faculty members. There will be an extemporaneous writing requirement and applicants may bring their own paper and pen/pencil.

  • Transfer Credit. Six semester credit hours in course work may transfer from another accredited institution provided that the work of "A" or "B" quality. No courses evaluated "Credit", "Satisfactory", "Pass", etc. will be accepted for transfer to the university for graduate work credit.  Transfer credit must have been taken no more than five years prior to beginning the program.

  Admission Requirements & Timeline

  Clinical Coursework for PC Licensure (LIC.ECC)

 

·         Application for Admission submitted online through the Graduate School.

·         Official Master's Degree Transcript(s) submitted directly from the institution 

       the degree was earned only if the masters degree in counseling is not from 

       the University of Dayton.

·          Course Worksheet form provided by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & 

              Marriage and Family Therapist Board.

       ·         Advising Meeting - After reviewing the above requirements, a UD faculty 

              member will contact applicants to schedule an advising meeting to 

              determine which courses they need to meet the state requirements.

·    Notification: Applicants will be notified about their admission status

      approximately one month after all of the above requirements have been

      met.
