Practicum & Internship Materials

Prior to your first practicum or internship course, it is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with the manual, especially the necessary forms and documentation.

Personal Counseling: Throughout your training you will hear about the importance of personal counseling to your personal and professional development. If you are interested in pursuing this experience, please ask for a faculty member for an appropriate referral.

Documentation for Capital University Students Only Practicum/Internship Initial Application Form NOTE: Deadlines are February 28 for Fall placement and September 1 for Winter placement. Continuation of Practicum Internship Application Form
Additional Information: School Counseling students are required to attend the practicum orientation as specified in the course bulletin. The following courses must be completed prior to practicum (EDC 585): EDC 501, 522, 531, 543, 545, 546, 583. Any variations must be approved by your assigned academic advisor. The internship (EDC 599) should be started in the fall or winter terms. Although this course is offered during the summer terms, the intent is for students to continue their experiences rather than begin them at this time. It is recommended that EDC 700 should be started at the same time as the internship. Students must obtain a grade of B or better to earn credit.
