What is the projected job market for teachers?

Because of  upcoming teacher retirements, the need for new teachers has grown.  The market is especially strong in special education, math, science, and foreign language at this time.
But effective teachers are needed at all levels. All first year University of Dayton students begin the career placement process with an on-line resume which when completed is available to future employers.

According to an employment status survey conducted by the School of Education's Educational Placement services, in 2003, 70% of students who graduated had a job in a full-time teaching position, while 11% were part-time teachers.  4% of teachers decided to find a job outside of education, while 5% decided to volunteer, go to graduate school, or do something else with their education degree. The UD Educational Field Office in conjunction with UD Career Services invites school districts from across the country to campus to conduct interviews for students in their senior year at UD.
