The Department of Teacher Education administers the program for Intervention Specialist (BSE.EMM), which leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education and to provisional licensure to teach learners ages 5 through 21, preschool through grade 12 with mild to moderate educational needs.  A student in the Intervention Specialist program is required to follow the prescribed EMM curriculum.  A minimum of 124 semester hours of total coursework is required.  The prescribed EMM curriculum may be obtained by viewing the program checksheets.

Successful completion of teacher education field experiences and a 2.5 cumulative grade point average are required overall and in professional education courses to continue in the program, student teach, and be licensed.

The PRAXIS I (i.e. Pre-Professional Skills Test or PPST) reading, writing, and math subtests are required and must be waived or passed by the end of the first year.  The PRAXIS II tests are also required.  They include the Principles of Learning and Teaching (K-6, 5-9, or 7-12) and Special Education Knowledge-based Core Principles.  They must be taken during the senior year.  Applications for both tests are available in Chaminade 104 and the Chaminade Annex.
