EXERCISE
PHYSIOLOGY
Exercise Physiology
(EEP) is the systematic and research-based study of the
body’s responses and adaptations to exercise including
how they interact with diet, body composition,
environment, training, and certain disease conditions.
EEP students are exposed to research
opportunities with faculty before designing and
conducting their own research project in their senior
year. Those pursuing graduate school also receive
substantial coaching and advisement for the application
process.
EEP graduates typically pursue MS/PhD programs in
exercise physiology and/or nutritional biochemistry as
well as professional doctoral programs in Physical
Therapy, Pharmacy, Chiropractic, Medicine, Dentistry,
and Veterinary Medicine. Those not pursuing graduate
school but have the requisite communications skills will
be prime candidates for positions in the pharmaceutical,
consumer products, medical equipment, and/or fitness
industries.
Admissions requirements are among the most stringent at
the University of Dayton:
---Minimum ACT composite of 27 for entering 1st year
students OR
--Minimum GPA of 3.20 in a science-based curriculum for
intra- or inter-university transfer students
